Handed Down Residency

A collaboration with artist Misha Abbas, we were asked by The Institute of Advanced Uncertainty to occupy a gallery space at Minnesota Street Project as artists in residence. During the time we were installed, we explored hand dying yarn with traditional vegetable dyes used in SWANA weaving practices, built a loom, cooked traditional Assyrian and Pakistani recipes and served the public dinner, and explored our shared heritage and experiences as two people who grew up outside of our SWANA homeland. Much of the project was devoted to untangling our dyed yarn with visitors in the gallery space.
