A portrait of my great-grandmother Nanajan and her daughter Buelah as a chair/ottoman set.
Nanajan became pregnant during the height of the conflict, and birthed Buelah during their migration, which included moving to a larger city (from Urmia to Tabriz), crossing the Sahara in Model T's to get to Egypt, crossing France by ship, coming to Ellis Island by ship, then taking a train from New York to San Francisco. Buelah is still alive today at a healthy 96, and chauffeurs her "elderly" friends around Los Angeles.
